Point 1 is this kind of classic programmer fallacy I see more and more… it ignores the fact that human brains are low bandwidth. Yes if we were robots, code is self explanatory. But sometimes when viewing a complicated section of code, an english language summary is parsed much more quickly than someone spending 30 mins figuring it out.

Also to add, you say ‘if the code is well written, it explains itself’. I think you’ll unfortunately find that every programmer thinks their own code is ‘well written’.
